Step 1 – you’re the role. You’re in character, invested in the plot, engrossed by the story and you care very much about outcomes. Child
Step 2 – you’re the actor. You have some distance from the soap, you understand it’s just a play and you’re ok however it plays out. Adult
Step 3 – you’re the stage. You’re not invested in the show at all. You understand that nothing that happens on the stage can even touch you. Free
Step 3 is kinda pointless. Step 2 is very much worth having.
