What would you do if you knew you only had a week to live?

What would you do if you knew this life was a simulation or a video game?

I was listening to my favorite podcast (Very Bad Wizards) and they were discussing the possibility that we were living in a simulation. And according to Dave that knowledge would change nothing. And then he said that our reality is indistinguishable from one that is a simulation.

Which is true… Whether the substrate is quarks or bits matters not at all.

But his conclusion is crazy. If this is a video game there are no stakes. If there are no stakes, no one would live how we live. We’d all be playing ‘real life’ Mario Cart, or doing whatever. None of us would be submitting ourselves to the drudgery and poison that we consider ‘normal’.

Traffic? Social media? Meetings? Fast food? Forms? Book keeping? School? Porn? High fructose corn syrup? Ads? Game shows? Margarine? Factory farms? Offices? 8 hour work days? 40+ hour work weeks?!

Nothing is real. Life IS a video game. There are no stakes. You CAN do whatever you want. And you WILL die.

Go fuck somebody, well. Take a walk in nature. Eat something actually good. Jump from an airplane. Take a nap. Paint.
