Nothing ain’t anything

I’m reading the Science Delusion by Rupert Sheldrake and it’s a fun trip through all the different ways scientific models fail and what that should tell us about science. I haven’t finished it yet but what stands out very clearly is the whole idea that anything should be anything.

The verb ‘to be’ is causing the issue here. Nothing IS anything until we make it so. Consciousness is. That’s the only fact in existence. Everything else we’ve made up. Through concepts, which are models, which are simplifications and just stories. So obviously they have limits where we did the simplifying. And obviously they are only what they are: our made up stories.

Never true, just stories.

The end.
